Spencer Daniel is a licensed United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Master Captain. He has been living by the water for his entire life and has been sailing since he was a child. In his early days, he sailed on the Long Island Sound on Beneteau 23 sailboats based in City Island, NY. During that time, he also honed his sailing skills racing aboard a friend’s J80 sailboat based at the American Yacht Club. In his early twenties, he purchased his first sailboat, a Catalina 22 which he sailed extensively throughout Southern California’s waters in the open Pacific Ocean. A few years later, after moving back to New York, he began sailing with Hudson River Community Sailing on J24s, J80s and a Precision 28. It was at this time that he became a licensed Basic Keelboat Sailing Instructor with US Sailing. In November 2019, after several years of working as a sailing instructor and coach, he purchased his second boat, a Tayana 55 named New Horizons. It is this boat that he continues to sail today. Since 2019, Spencer has sailed New Horizons over 6000 nautical miles. After extensively sailing the waters of Southern California, he set sail for Mexico and has since explored the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California), the entire Pacific coast of Mexico & Central America, the Panama Canal, South America, and the Caribbean Sea. His demeanor always exudes the utmost professionalism while also being a friendly, warm, and playful individual. He is passionate about teaching and loves sharing his knowledge of sailing.
